Molybdenum Lanthanum (MoLa)(molybdenum alloy doped with lanthana)

Molybdenum Lanthanum (MoLa) Alloy, also known as high-temperature molybdenum, is doped with lanthana to enhance high-temperature performance, ductility, and wear resistance. Available in 0.3%, 0.6%, and 1.1% Lanthana compositions, MoLa features a higher recrystallization temperature. Molybdenum, a gray-metallic element with the third-highest melting point, is essential for high-stress applications.

Description of molybdenum alloy doped with lanthanum

Molybdenum Lanthanum (MoLa) Alloy, also known as high-temperature molybdenum, is a molybdenum alloy doped with lanthana (Lanthanum Oxide) to enhance high-temperature performance, ductility, and wear resistance. Common MoLa alloy compositions include 0.3 wt.%, 0.6 wt.%, and 1.1 wt.% Lanthana, offering improved recrystallization temperatures and mechanical strength. Molybdenum (Mo), a gray-metallic element with the third-highest melting point after tungsten and tantalum, is widely used in high-stress, high-temperature applications across aerospace, electronics, and industrial sectors.

Molybdenum Lanthanum Application

Molybdenum Lanthanum (MoLa) alloy is widely used in high-temperature and high-stress applications due to its excellent thermal stability, ductility, and wear resistance. Key applications include:

  1. High-Temperature Furnace Components – Molybdenum Lanthanum are used in heating elements, shields, and structural parts for vacuum and hydrogen furnaces.
  2. Aerospace & Defense – Applied in rocket nozzles, heat shields, and other high-temperature aerospace components.
  3. Metal Processing & Glass Industry – Used in Molybdenum Lanthanum crucibles, molds, and components for high-temperature glass melting and metal casting.
  4. Medical & Energy Applications – Applied in medical imaging devices, nuclear energy components, and radiation shielding.

MoLa’s enhanced creep resistance and high recrystallization temperature make it ideal for extreme environments where standard molybdenum would degrade.
