Description of Hafnium wire

Hafnium (Hf) is a lustrous, silvery, and ductile metal renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance and chemical similarity to zirconium. A critical material in the atomic energy industry, hafnium is widely used in nuclear control rods due to its high neutron absorption cross-section. In the electrical industry, ultra-pure hafnium serves as an efficient cathode material for X-ray tubes, leveraging its superior electron emission properties.

Hafnium wire is precision-drawn from high-purity (99.9%+) hafnium metal, ensuring optimal performance in extreme environments. With its exceptional electron emission capability and extremely high melting point (2,233°C), hafnium wire is the preferred plasma emitter for industrial plasma cutting machine electrodes, offering unmatched durability and arc stability. Additionally, hafnium is a vital alloying element in heat-resistant superalloys, enhancing the properties of tungsten, molybdenum, and tantalum-based alloys for aerospace and high-temperature applications.

We supply premium-grade hafnium wire (Hf Wire) in customized diameters (0.1mm–6mm), tailored to meet ASTM B737 and AMS 2248 standards. Our hafnium wire is ideal for nuclear, semiconductor, and plasma cutting industries, with batch-certified quality and fast global delivery. Development in the Production of Hafnium Wire Conforming to ASTM B737 Standard

Abstract:The paper reports the results of studies conducted on the structure, mechanical, and corrosion properties of the experimental samples of wires manufactured in compliance with the ASTM B737 standard specification for hot rolled and/or cold-drawn hafnium rods and wire. Currently, CMP can manufacture wires with a diameter of 1 mm or more from hafnium ingots of its own production, in compliance with the ASTM B737 standard.
